Just abide and bear it

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit; for apart from Me you can do nothing.” – JOHN 15:500:0001:28

Far too often, we run after happiness and fulfillment, when what we need to do is just slow down so we can become what we are called to be: branches upon which our Heavenly Father can hang fruit that signifies we belong to Him. We are branches, and our task is simply to abide in the vine and draw our strength from it.

Sometimes God will prune us as He takes off that which is diseased or extraneous – the things that keep us from being fruitful. But what do we do? Absolutely nothing. The secret to fruit-bearing is just this: Abide in Jesus Christ, the only True Vine.
