KEEP PRESSING FORWARD

2 Peter 1:5-8

For this very reason do your best to add … to your faith; to your goodness …to your knowledge …to your self-control …to your endurance …to your godliness …and to your Christian affection add love. These are the qualities you need, and if you have them in abundance, they will make you active and effective in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A major key to remaining consistent, both in life and in your walk with God is the desire to keep pressing forward. Feeling like you have ‘arrived’, or becoming proud because of what you have experienced or achieved in any area of your life, can slow you down and make you begin to compromise in your commitment and faithfulness. Thank God for what you have experienced or achieved but don’t settle or relax. Keep pressing forward.

Despite all he knew and had achieved, look at the mindset Apostle Paul had: “I don’t mean to say I am perfect. I haven’t learned all I should even yet, but I keep working toward that day when I will finally be all that Christ saved me for and wants me to be. No, dear brothers, I am still not all I should be, but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us,” (Phil.3:12-14, LB).

Keep desiring to grow and increase in your faith, excellence, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness and love. Keep desiring to be more like Christ in all these areas.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I desire to be me more like Christ in all areas of my life. Help me to grow and increase in the nature of Christ.
