Keep Your Eyes on God
Psalms 34:1-5 (GNB), Psalms 123:2 (NLT)
I will always thank the LORD; I will never stop praising him. I will praise him for what he has done; may all who are oppressed listen and be glad! Proclaim with me the LORD’s greatness; let us praise his name together! I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears. The oppressed look to him and are glad; they will never be disappointed. *We keep looking to the LORD our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.
By faith, Peter was embarking on a supernatural, phenomenal and previously impossible journey of walking on water towards Jesus. The moment he chose to take his eyes off Jesus and look at the winds, he became afraid and began to sink, (Matt.14:25-32). Why do you think Peter took his eyes away from Jesus and looked at the terrible wind and waves? It is possible that he did not know the impact that such a slight distraction from Christ could cause him. Beloved, I may not know why you are being tempted to take your eyes off Jesus to focus on the fierceness of what you are going through, but I know that taking your eyes off Jesus for one moment will not be worth it at all.

Jonah 2:8 says, “They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.” Whatever you are seeing or hearing that is not in line with what God is saying about you through Christ is a lying vanity. Do not focus on it or accept it. Keep your focus on Christ and what God is going to do in your life because of Christ. The glorious and abundant mercy of God is about to manifest in your life and situation and God doesn’t want you to miss it. Keep your eyes on God and keep walking in love. Don’t even trust in anything or anyone else, (Her.17:5-8). God can use any means to bless you but He must remain your only source and focus at all times. Don’t be angry because people you expected to help you did not help you. They are not your God and they are not your source. Keep your eyes on God, who is your source and keep walking in love. “He will keep in perfect peace, He whose mind is stayed on Him, because he trusts in Him,” (Isa.26:3).
Prayer:
My eyes are on you Lord. Please help me not to focus on the wind or what I am going through. Thank you for your abundant grace that is available to me.
