KEEP YOUR HOPE IN THE MERCY AND LOVE OF GOD

Psalms 147:7-11 (AMPC)

Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praises …to our God!—Who covers the heavens with clouds,…prepares rain for the earth,… makes grass to grow on the mountains. …He delights not in the strength of the horse, nor does He take pleasure in the legs of a man. The Lord takes pleasure in those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy and loving-kindness.

God always wants to show Himself strong in our lives and to give us great and wonderful things that we do not deserve. When we fail to deliberately put our hope in God’s mercy and love for every area of our lives, we cut ourselves out of the grace and abundance that God has in store for us. Ephesians 2:4 (GNB) says, “But God’s mercy is so abundant, and his love for us is so great.”

Of course, in all areas of your life, you must do your part and play your role diligently, but keep your hope and trust in God. “The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD,” (Prov.21:31). Do not put your trust in yourself or in any man or woman or in anything else. Doing this will make you experience dryness and cut you out of the favour, freshness and abundance that God has in store for you, (Jer.17:5-8). Apostle Paul said he worked more than others, but it was not his works but the grace of God that made him everything he was, (1Cor.15:10). Make God your sufficiency.

Think of how God showed you His love and mercy in the past and let that motivate you to trust Him to show you His love and mercy right now. David acknowledged how God saved him from the lion and bear and it stirred up his faith to face and overcome Goliath, (1Sam.17:37).

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, you are my sufficiency. My hope and absolute trust are in your great love and mercy towards me.
