“And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? Wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.” 2Samuel 5:19 (KJV) David was the most successful king in Israel. He never lost any battle. In 2Samuel 5:17, the Philistines came against him. Before anything, David inquired of the Lord. David didn’t say: “I am a warrior; I know what to do I killed the bear and the lion! I killed Goliath and I have won several battles.” He didn’t jump into battle simply because he had weapons or because he was a king and can control battalions. No. The Bible said; David inquired of the Lord. The battle was already raging but he said wait: “Before you people fire one shot, let’s find out what the Lord is doing. He inquired of the Lord and the Lord said unto David, “go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hands”.

And so, with such assurance, there was no fear.  David and his men, therefore, came to Baal-perazim and smote them there. He said the Lord hath broken forth upon my enemies before me as the bridge of waters. Therefore, he called the name of that place Baal-perazim which means Master breakthrough. In verse 22 of 2 Samuel chapter 5, the Philistines regrouped and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim to attack David. David went back to the Lord. He didn’t say well I already know how to do it. Let me go and repeat the same thing. When it comes to the kingdom principles, you don’t assume. You must receive a fresh touch. You must be in constant connection with heaven so that the enemy does not take you out. He inquired again and God told him to go. If you read further, you will discover that the strategy changed. It was not the former strategy. Decide today to stay in touch with God always and receive fresh instructions. Further Reading: 2 Samuel 5:17-25, John 1: 1-12Daily Bible Reading: Morning- Deuteronomy 32-34; Evening- Mark 15:26-47
