Knowing Christ and His Love Intimately
Ephesians 3:19 (KJV, CEV), Philippines 3:10 (KJV, GNB)
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. * I want you to know all about Christ’s love, although it is too wonderful to be measured. Then your lives will be filled with all that God is. *That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; *All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death.
We study yesterday that as believers, the primary source of our convictions and persuasions is the revelation of Christ. If you are going to be all God had said about you, your convictions cannot be based on the traditions, beliefs or superstitious of men, your past experiences or your senses or feelings.
We need the revelation of Christ and His love to fill our hearts and to be more real to us than everything else in our lives. The revelation of Christ and His love are not ordinary. They are supernatural and full with power. As we know Christ, we become more like Him. As we focus on the glory of Christ, the Spirit of God changes us from glory to glory into the image of Christ (2Cor.3:18). Knowing Christ is the most important thing in Apostle Paul’s life (Phil.3:7-8). Everything else was like rubbish to him. No wonder his life was as glorious as it was. As you also prioritize knowing Christ above everything else, your life will be more glorious than ever before. The love of Christ is so deep, so wide, so long and so high. It is beyond what any human being can fully understand on his or her own. Now, our first text above says as this revelation of the love of Christ fills our hearts, we will be filled with all that God is. The fullness of God is activated in our lives by the revelation of the love of Christ. This is why we need to progressively desire to know the love of Christ. It is because of His love that Jesus sacrificed His life for us, redeemed us and accomplished all He did for us. The love of Christ is the love of God. Jesus is the perfect reflection of God the Father (Heb.1:3). As we know Christ and His love more intimately, we will also reflect Christ and His love more readily.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please fill my heart will more of the revelation of Christ. I desire to know Christ and His love more intimately.
