LET YOUR FOCUS BE ON JESUS

“And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 KJVApostle Paul is addressing the Church, saying that when he came to the Church in Corinth, he did not come with excellence of speech or with eloquence. In other words, he did not come with mere oratory skills or wisdom that he learnt from the world. Human wisdom is limited. But he said I came to declare to you the testimony of God.Since Paul came in contact with Jesus, he was determined that he would not live his life outside what Christ did for him on Calvary. “I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ and Him crucified’. Before he met Christ, his life was based on what he knew concerning the law. He was a firm keeper of the law. In matters of the law, he was a luminary. In Philippians chapter 3:6 he said: “Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless”. (KJV). Paul was so zealous that he did not believe anything about Christ. But when he encountered Christ, every other thing became dung, for the excellency of the knowledge of Him. When he realized the price He paid on his behalf and when he understood how much Christ loved him, nothing else mattered any more. After Paul’s encounter, he made Jesus his focus and pursuit. ” That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection”(Philippians 3:10KJV). Paul submitted completely to Christ.  Enough of struggles! As believers in Christ, we must be determined, like Apostle Paul, to make Him our focus in life. We must make Him the centre of our pursuit. When you make Him your focus, you will manifest the kind of wisdom that excels and surpasses the wisdom of the world. The wisdom which God has ordained for us.Further Reading: 1 Corinthians 2:1-7; Philippians 3:1-10.Daily Bible Reading: Morning- Psalms 146-147; Evening- 1 Corinthians 15:1-28
