Liberty from Defilement– Part 2
Dear Reader,
Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching. In the previous edition, we examined what defilement is and how it affects us as a child of God. This week, we will dive deeper into Liberty from Defilement.
How to Escape Defilement
Obey God’s Commandment. One thing God desires most from us is our obedience. God wants you to glorify Him by the way you use your body. If you have truly been washed in Christ’s blood, you should no longer be living for yourself; instead, you should be living to glorify God. The Word says: What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Also the Word says: …Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying: but put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof (Romans 13:12-14).
Therefore, these commandments are important, and you should live according to them because it is a commandment from God. Also, you show your love for Christ by being obedient to His commandments. The Word says: If ye love me, keep my commandments (John 14:15; see also 1 John 2:3-5). So live your life based on God’s Word. Remember, your action speaks louder than words.
So, it is not too late to recommit your life and body to God. The Bible tells us that no matter how bad we think we are or how much we have already sinned, God can forgive us and make us whole again if we only confess our sins to Him and repent or turn from them (1 John 1:9; 2 Chronicles 7:14; Isaiah 55:7; Proverbs 28:13, etc.). All of these verses show it is still not too late to make a fresh start with God. Won’t you stop chasing your own lust and start letting God lead you? The cheap thrills you are excited about now by living a sinful life cannot compare to the beautiful and rich relationship you can have if you obey God’s Word and follow His standards for living.
Therefore, to be totally liberated from defilement, you need the help of God. So if you are not born-again, please say this prayer: Dear Lord, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now, I know I am born again!
Congratulations, you are now born again and a child of God. He loves you and will never leave or forsake you. With this, you are guaranteed all-round rest and peace, in Jesus’ name!
