LIFE WITH A MEANING! (2)

Dear Reader,

Previously, we examined the avenues for locating the reason for your existence. I opened you up to the fact that discovering your existence gives meaning to your life. Today, I shall be rounding off the teaching by showing you other guiding principles to living a life of meaning. Therefore, certain guiding principles must be in place to live a meaningful life.

Let us examine some of them:

  • Be Sincere to Yourself: Refuse to play the game of self-deceit!  Remember, you are the principal actor in living a meaningful life, especially as ministers’ children. Where knowledge is present, power is present for performance.  Where there is understanding, there will be outstanding accomplishments. For any life to be outstanding, a good understanding is required. Interestingly, there is no return match in the game of life. So also, there is no replacement for the current one you have. Therefore, handle it with care! To live a meaningful life, learn to seek and receive help in the area of weakness. 1 Corinthians 10:12 says, Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.  Meaningful life begins with you; do not pretend to be super-strong when you are not.
  • Examine your Motives: Motive is defined as the reason for doing something.  Motive is powerful, and it is everything. No wonder 2 Corinthians 13:5 says, Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith: prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? Whatever lifestyle you get yourself involved in, ask yourself this simple question: is my motive pure, right, righteous and godly?  Impure motives will produce impure lifestyles. For example, it is possible for you to covet a way of life simply because your course mate lives his/her life in that manner, even though you know it does not glorify the name of God, but because you want to ‘feel among’. If you are into any lifestyle with an impure motive, the earlier you quit, the better for you if you do not want to endanger your destiny. Beware of your motive!
  • Engage in Constant Evaluation: Constantly evaluate your life.  In evaluating your life, ask yourself: is this lifestyle profitable, both to God and me?  Ask yourself questions such as: is it adding anything to me or constantly sapping me?  Is it leaving me refreshed, energised, or is it draining me? Any lifestyle you are into that keeps draining you is leading you to the grave faster than you thought.  Examine your spiritual walk with God because any lifestyle that draws you backwards in your walk with Him is not godly and does not deserve your consideration or attention. So many individuals find themselves living a life they really do not plan to live. They got themselves in such a messy lifestyle because of peer pressure, covetousness and what have you. However, as ministers’ children, your life should be distinguished from others by living a meaningful life that will glorify God and be a gauge for other children in your surroundings and world at large.

I believe God with you that as you consider the principles highlighted in this article and put them to practice, your life will not only be meaningful but will also be impactful to other lives around you, in Jesus name!

However, to live a life of meaning, you must be born again. You get born again by first confessing your sins and accepting Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. If you are ready for this new birth experience, say this prayer of faith: Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me my sins and cleanse me with Your Blood. I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank You for delivering me from sin and satan to serve the living God, and thank You for accepting me into Your Kingdom.
