Memorise: Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Matthew 5:14

Read: John 8:12

12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Bible In One Year: Daniel 9-10; 2 John 1:1-13

MESSAGE:

Light is such an interesting thing. It brightens up a place and allows things to be seen. Consider the following characteristics of light. Firstly, light gives birth to light (John 8:12; James 1:17 ). The Bible tells us that God is light. This means that if you are a born again child of God, you are light. Secondly, light chases darkness away. A little spark of light can brighten an area covered in darkness (John 1:5 ). The third characteristic is, light shines no matter how small or how far it goes. Lastly, little light can become great light. You may think you are young and your light is small, but if you stay close to God, I assure you that your light will be great. Your light must however, be protected because the enemy is working tirelessly to dim your light. One way to make sure your light is constantly shining is by obeying the word of God, praying and completely relying on the Holy Spirit.

The memory verse for today says you are the light of the world. In other words, it is your duty to shine. God sees you as light, your light must brighten the world. Your life must radiate the glory of God (Matthew 5:16 ). Make a decision today to keep shining for God.

Action Point:

Let your light shine for the world to see.

Hymn: Take My Life , And Let It Be

  1. Take my life and let it be
    Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
    Take my moments and my days,
    Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love;
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for Thee.
  3. Take my voice and let me sing
    Always, only for my King;
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my silver and my gold
    Not a mite would I withhold;
    Take my intellect and use
    Every power as Thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it
    Thine It shall be no longer mine;
    Take my heart, it is Thine own
    It shall be Thy royal throne.
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store.
    Take myself and I will be
    Ever, only, all for Thee.
