LOOKING UNTO JESUS: THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER OF OUR FAITH (2)

Hebrews 12:2 (AMPC) Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus does not only initiate, sustain and perfect the faith we need for various desires in our lives; He also initiates, sustains and perfects our entire journey of faith and life in Him. When the Bible says Christ in us is the hope of glory (Col.1:27), it’s not referring to just the glory of God we’ll experience on this earth, but also the fullness of the glory of God we’ll experience when Christ returns. We must never lose sight of this blessed and glorious hope, (Tit.2:13, Col.1:23).

Paul said if it’s only in this life we have hope, we are of all men most miserable, (1 Cor.15:19). When Jesus returns, He will complete and perfect our journey of faith on earth. When we see Him, we shall be fully like Him. Our physical bodies will become transformed into His glorious body, (1 John 3:2). He shall also give us great rewards for our labours for Him, (Rev.22:12) a crown of righteousness (2Tim.4:8) and a crown of glory, (1Pet.5:4).

As you keep your eyes on Jesus, He will fill you with the same grace and ability by which He successfully lived on earth and finished His mission and assignment. He will sustain and preserve you in Him till He returns. Jude 1:24 says “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” Prayer: Father, help me to keep my eyes on Christ as I look forward to the blessed hope of glory I’ll experience when Christ returns.
