“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 (KJV) Today, the world is celebrating Valentine’s day. What many believers forget is that love originated from God. God does not love! He is love. His very essence is love. He loved us so much that He sacrificed His very Son just for us. What love! The truth about love is that you can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.  What we see out there is mostly sensual love. It is a love that loves “because of” but not “in spite” of. It is love that gives to you because you gave. It is love that fades with every passing day. But this is not like the love of God. God loves us so much that while we were sinners, Christ died for us. God loved us so much that He went all out to ensure we were saved – He gave His best and He did not stop at that, He realised that we needed help in our walk with Him, so He emptied the treasures of Heaven to give His all – in the person of the Holy Spirit. My question is: what are you willing to give to Him?

It is true that you cannot love without giving – He has given you everything that pertains to life and godliness; what are you willing to give to Him? Remember we talked about your talents yesterday. How much of your talent are you willing to lay down at the altar? What about your resources? Are you like the one talent man who chose to bury his talent? Or are you so consumed by your talent that you are not ready to serve with it? Are you one of those who give reasons why they do not give their tithe? Beloved, if you understand the love of God, you will realise that nothing is too big to give to him.  Further Reading: John 3: 9-17Daily Bible Reading: Morning- Leviticus 15-16; Evening- Matthew 27:1-26
