So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him

Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus was met with mobs and meals (Lord, tell Mary to help me!), palm branches and parades, accusations and accolades, pointing fingers and perfume. His presence prompted a response.

Even today, Jesus demands a decision….and action. What we choose to do with Jesus and His cross is the primary and most pressing decision any person ever makes.

Instead of His death ringing with finality, it trumpeted a new beginning for all of us. His anguished cry, “It is finished,” actually means “paid in full.” He wiped away the enormous, insurmountable debt – the penalty for our sins – completely.

What looked to be a fatal and final tragedy became a tree of triumph to every believer. How can we properly express our gratitude and devotion? In today’s verse, the crowd waited for Him with anticipation. They came out to meet Him with happiness and expectation.

Let’s do the same! Wait and watch for Him. Welcome Him with worship and adoration. Greet Him with gratitude and great joy! Work for His coming! What is the one thing that you can begin to do now? How will you usher Him into your day?

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Thank Him for a new heart, a new mind, new beginnings, new mercies, and new life! Welcome Him into every second of every day. He will fill you with His presence to accomplish His purposes. Press on for the prize in Christ Jesus!
