Memorise: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: Colossians 1:16

Read: Genesis 1:26-31

  1. And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
  2. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
  3. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
  4. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
  5. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
  6. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Bible In One Year: Jeremiah 49-50; Hebrews 51-14

MESSAGE:

Our God is intentional. He does things deliberately. This is why He took time to create man for a purpose. So you were created by God for a purpose and there is a time frame for the fulfilment of that purpose. All the prophets in the Bible were made for a purpose. They were to come at an appointed time and do what God wanted them to do. For instance, Samuel had a purpose, and that he fulfilled. Jeremiah’s purpose was clearly described in Jeremiah 1:1-10. He was a prophet of the nation of Israel. Although it was said that Jeremiah cried a lot for his country, but he fulfilled purpose. John the Baptist also was born for a reason. He was the fore-runner of Jesus Christ i.e. to prepare the way for the coming of Christ. This duty he discharged effectively. The moment Jesus came, he took the back seat.

What of our Lord Jesus Christ? He knew his purpose and not even the devil’s proposition of giving Him the entire world if only He could bow to him deterred Jesus from fulfilling His purpose. Do you know you are made for a purpose? Do you know why God made you? If you know, are you fulfilling it? Don’t allow Gods investment over your life be in vain.

Reflection:
Are you fulfilling purpose?

Hymn: Onward Christian Soldiers

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers,
    marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See his banner go.

Chorus:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus,
    Satan’s host doth flee;
    On then, Christian
    soldiers, on to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver
    at the shout of praise;
    Brothers, lift your voices,
    loud your anthems raise!
  2. Like a mighty army
    moves the church of God;
    Brothers, we are treading
    where the saints have trod;
    We are not divided;
    all one body we,
    One in hope and
    doctrine, one in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may
    perish,
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never
    ’Gainst that Church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  4. Onward, then, ye people,
    join our happy throng,
    Blend with ours your
    voices in the triumph song;
    Glory, praise, and
    honour, unto Christ the King;
    This through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
