MAJOR WAYS THE SPIRIT INFLUENCES OUR LIVES (1)

Romans 8:16-17 (LB)

For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we really are God’s children. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for all God gives to his Son Jesus is now ours too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. *And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

God wants us to do everything that we do in the name or authority of Christ. This includes every part of our daily lives and also how we relate with God. For us to do this, we must be conscious that we are one with Christ, (1Cor.6:17, 1 John 4:17). This is a major influence that the Holy Spirit exerts in our lives. He strengthens our conviction that we are God’s children just like Christ. We are not just God’s children; we are joint heirs with Christ. We have been gracefully granted the privilege to share in all that Christ is and to walk in the power, glory and blessings of God just like Christ does, through the help of the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is in charge of making us more like Christ. As we focus on the revelation of Christ, the Holy Spirit transforms us from glory to glory into the image of Christ, (2Cor.3:18). He makes us put on more of Christ’s glory and fullness. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will glorify Him in our lives by taking what belongs to Him and revealing it to us, (John 16:13-15). The Holy Spirit helps us know that all that belongs to Christ now belongs to us also, because we are one with Him.

As we pray (Eph.6:18), speak and do everything we do in the authority of Christ and by the help of the Spirit, we are more victorious and unstoppable in life. We enjoy more of our inheritance in God.

Prayer Focus:
Pray in the Spirit right now and receive the empowerment of the Spirit to be more like Christ in all things.
