“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.” Matthew 5:14 (KJV) If you are using a red-letter edition of the Bible, you will discover that the scripture for today is all in red, this implies that they are words that came from the lips of the Master, Jesus Christ. What this implies is that it is not open for debate. It is not a suggestion but an instruction. Jesus said that you are the light of the world. So, what does light do? It illuminates. The light never complains of darkness, it dispels darkness. Light never competes with darkness; rather when it appears, darkness disappears. As believers, we are not called to compete with the world, but to make a formidable impact to the extent that the world had no choice but to acknowledge the goodness of God in us. Jesus did not stop by saying we are the light of the world. He went further to say: a city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. In other words, believers cannot be lost in the crowd. It is not about eloquence but grace. The believer carries so much power that when he or she appears, the world cannot but take notice.
It is an abnormally for a child of God to get lost in the crowd. When issues come in your office, you should be the go-to person with the answer. When the world is confused, you should be calm and give directions. However, this will only happen when you are yielded to the Holy Spirit. The Bible says as many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. So, if the Spirit of God is not leading you, there is no way you can make a formidable impact. Rather, when the world is running helter-skelter, you will join it. I challenge you today to know who you are in Christ, submit yourself to Him, be led by His Spirit so you can make a formidable impact in your world for the Kingdom.
