MAKE CHRIST YOUR ALL IN ALL

Philippians 3:7-10 (GNB) But all those things that I might count as profit I now reckon as loss for Christ’s sake…I reckon everything as complete loss for the sake of what is so much more valuable, the knowledge of Christ Jesus…. For his sake I have thrown everything away; I consider it all as mere garbage, so that I may gain Christ and be completely united with him. I no longer have a righteousness of my own…I now have the righteousness that is given through faith in Christ, … All I want is to know Christ…

Do you desire to grow in your knowledge of Christ? If you do, what exactly is your reason? If you are not deliberate and specific about this, so many other things are going to crowd out and dampen your desire to know Christ. For Apostle Paul, he wanted to know Christ, because Christ was everything to him. He had come to realise that it was by his faith and total leaning on Christ that he was perfect and accepted in the sight of God. He knew that he was absolutely nothing without Christ. He knew that he needed to know Christ more, so that he could lean more on Christ. Apostle Paul became so passionate about knowing Christ that he was willing to put aside certain things that could stand as a hindrance to his knowing Christ.

Now, what exactly are the things that Apostle Paul put aside so that He could put all his faith in Christ and pursue knowing Christ? They are stated in verses 5-6: “I was circumcised when I was a week old. I am an Israelite by birth, of the tribe of Benjamin, a pure-blooded Hebrew. As far as keeping the Jewish Law is concerned, I was a Pharisee, and I was so zealous that I persecuted the church. As far as a person can be righteous by obeying the commands of the Law, I was without fault.” These are things that ordinarily, he should be proud and boast about, but he understood that all these things were nothing compared with who Christ is and all Christ has done for him. And these things could become a distraction for him. Never pride yourself in any human qualification, service you render unto God or any connections you have. Make Christ your all in all. Know that in the sight of God, you are nothing without Christ and in Him, you are complete. Lean on Him and desire to grow in your knowledge of Him.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you that without Christ I am nothing but in Christ, I am perfect and complete. Help me to grow in the knowledge of Christ.
