MAKE GOD YOUR ARM

Jeremiah 17:5, 7-8, Romans 9:16

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD. Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit… it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

In the Bible, the term ‘arm’ does not merely refer to the physical arm of a human body. It is a symbol of strength or the device/machinery by which things get done. God wants you to make Him your arm. To make God your arm is to make God your source of strength and the One through whom things get done in your life. It is to put your hope and trust in Him. When you make God your arm, you are putting your absolute trust in Him to lift you, uphold you, work in your life and to take care of your things, just like you use your arms in the natural to lift things up, to hold things, to work and to take care of things. Making God your arm does not mean you will not work. You will work quite alright, but you will not work in your own strength or wisdom but by God’s strength and wisdom. It will literally be as if God Himself comes to place his arms on your arms to get things done.

In 2Kings 13:15-17, Elisha instructed King Joash to place an arrow into his bow and to point it outside the window. Elisha then stood behind King Joash and placed his hand on King Joash’s hand. At Elisha’s command, they both released the arrow. Elisha then declared king Joash’s victory. This will be your testimony also. Because your trust is in God, the strength of God is upon everything you are engaged in and God’s strength will determine your results. As you trust God and remain diligent in what He has called you to do, your total victory is assured. God is always looking out for people who trust in Him so that He can show Himself strong in their lives, (2Chron.16:9). As you trust in God, He will show Himself strong in your life today.

Prayer:
My absolute trust is in you O Lord! Let your wisdom and strength rest on me and manifest in my life. Show yourself strong in my life.
