MAKING THE BEST OF YOUR TIME WHILE SINGLE (1)
Happy New Year! Welcome to your year of more than a conqueror. It is important to understand that God has designed your single years as the foundation for the best aspects of your life. The family is very precious to God’s heart because from the story of creation in the Bible, everything God created, He spoke into existence. However, when it came to the issue of marriage and family, He did not just speak it into being; He was practically involved in instituting it (Genesis 2:18, 22). So, making God the foundation of your family is the first step to success in your family. Therefore, this week, I will be teaching on ‘Making the Best of Your Time while Single’.

As a single, life does not have to be full of anxiety in expecting the day you will be married. No! In fact, God’s desire is that as His child, every additional day of your life should be exciting and full of purpose (Proverbs 4:18). In Jeremiah 29:11, God says, For I know the plans I have for you says the Lord. They are plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Living Bible). God has a good plan for your days, even as a single man or woman. So understand that you did not make yourself; God has packaged you and sent you to the world. You are the creation of the Most-High God, not a non-entity, coincidence or even a mistake.
Therefore, a good understanding of this will help you gain confidence in God. No matter your parental background, you are still His creature of beauty and purpose (Psalm 139:14). It does not matter if your father and mother said you were given birth to by mistake. God’s Word makes it very clear that He made you for a purpose (Psalm 100:4). So instead of filling your single days with anxiety, key into the will of God during this period.
Unfortunately, due to ignorance of God’s plan, most individuals do not make the best use of their single days. They waste so much time worrying about when they will meet their future spouse. As a single man or woman, the will of God for you is to be successful. This is clearly stated in Joshua 1:8, This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. The will of God is for you to be above only, not beneath (Deuteronomy 28:13). Whether you are a working single or you are in school, no matter your circumstance, you can be successful. As a believer, God has equipped you with so much. He has invested a lot in you to enable you make the most of your life, not just in marriage but in every area of your life.
However, if you desire a good future, you have to work it out yourself, and this takes discipline and handwork (Philippians 2:12). Therefore, as a single, you cannot afford to be lazy. When you make up your mind to be diligent in whatever you do according to the Word of God, His grace is made available, and so it becomes easy to obey.
Your youth and single days are the best times to make a decision for Jesus Christ, thereby enjoying a lifetime of sweet fellowship with Him. So, if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, you can do this by saying this prayer of faith with me: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today as a sinner. I believe You died for my sins and rose on the third day. Forgive me my sins. I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Make me a child of God today. Thank you for saving me. Now, I know I am born again!
