MORE THAN A SONG

Romans 12:1 (NIV, GNB)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. *So then, my friends, because of God’s great mercy to us I appeal to you: Offer yourselves as a living sacrifice to God, dedicated to his service and pleasing to him. This is the true worship that you should offer.

For us as believers, worship is more than singing songs of adoration to God based on the revelation of His person as revealed through Christ and based on the things He has done for us through Christ. Being sincerely grateful and singing songs of adoration to God through Christ is very good and it is an important part of the spiritual sacrifices we must offer unto God as priests, but it is not the only spiritual sacrifice God expects from us, (1Pet.2:5).

God expects us to allow our understanding and appreciation for all He has done for us through Christ to make us yield and surrender our bodies and every area of our lives unto Him. This is how we truly acknowledge Him as our all in all. As we focus on Christ and understand the heart of God the Father to us and all the wonderful things our loving Heavenly Father has done for us, there should be an increase in our desire to love God and please Him in every area of our lives and with our entire being.

God does not want us to worship and honour Him with our lips only, but with our hearts and our entire lives, (Isa.29:13). True worship is more than a song, it is a lifestyle. A life that is fully yielded and dedicated to God. And this must flow out of the revelation and acknowledgement of who God is and all He has done for us as revealed through Christ.

Action Point:
Thank God for His great love for you and all He has done for you in Christ. Surrender and yield yourself more to Him.
