“MORE VALUABLE”

“GOOD UNDERSTANDING GIVETH FAVOUR: but the way of transgressors is hard.” – Proverbs 13:15

Having a good understanding will cause you to receive favour. A man was over fifty years old and had to choose a new wife because his first wife had gone to be with the Lord. He was not interested in any of the pretty young girls who were all around him. The people in his life tried to get him to marry but he simply did not want to marry any of the pretty fresh virgins who were dying for him to choose then.

One day, he chose an older, weatherbeaten lady who no one expected him to choose. Everyone was shocked. “Why did you choose this woman with a big stomach when there are all these freshlooking ladies in the church?”

He simply answered, “It is about understanding. These young ones will not understand my life. They do not understand a man and they will not understand an older man. I want someone who understands me and understands what I want.” Indeed, the lady he married was like a weatherbeaten eagle. But with time, it was clear that he had chosen well because the new weather-beaten lady with the big stomach understood the needs of the man she had married.

When you have a greater understanding you are more valuable. A lack of understanding makes you unable to hold senior and elevated positions. The young men in Babylon (Daniel 1:17-20) were found to be ten times better in understanding and wisdom. They were ten times more valuable. They were elevated by the king and brought close and made to work in positions that were far higher than those of ordinary slaves.

Although nurses and doctors study similar things in school, doctors have a far higher understanding of the same subjects. Doctors are therefore paid much more than nurses. When you have a greater understanding of something you are more valuable.
