My Shepherd
“The Lord is my shepherd, I have everything I need.” – PSALM 23:100:0001:04
No word quite measures up to this picture of the Lord as our shepherd. A shepherd takes care of everything as far as the sheep are concerned. In fact, sheep cannot exist without a shepherd.
Did you notice the personal pronoun “my” in this verse? The Christian life is filled with personal pronouns! When God is my shepherd, the idea is that God owns me. When you let God become your shepherd, He gives you this proposal: “Let Me come and own you,” He says. “Let Me come and be your Good Shepherd.” When that happens, you will be able to state with the psalmist, “I have everything I need.”
