NEVER DESPISE THE WORD OF GOD
1Thessalonians 2:13 (CEV, NLT) We always thank God that you believed the message we preached. It came from him, and it isn’t something made up by humans. You accepted it as God’s message, and now he is working in you. *Therefore, we never stop thanking God that when you received his message from us, you didn’t think of our words as mere human ideas. You accepted what we said as the very word of God—which, of course, it is. And this word continues to work in you who believe.
The way you see and receive God’s word will determine the effect it will have in your life. The word of God is not ordinary. It is not like the words of men. God and His word are one and it is by this same word that God created all things, (John 1:1-3, Heb.11:3). The Bible says that God upholds all things by the word of His power, (Heb.1:3). God will recreate and uphold your life by His word. God is not a man that He should lie. If He has said it, He will bring it to pass, (Num.23:19).
God’s word does not return to Him void. It always accomplishes the purpose for which God sends it, (Isa.55:11). The word of God is sharper than any two edged sword and it can penetrate into any and every area of your life and cause great effects, (Heb.4:12). Doubting God’s word does not stop its power. It only makes you cut yourself out of your blessing, (2Kings 7:1-2, 16-17). As you receive God’s word and pay attention to it like a light shining in a dark place, there will be manifestations both inside you and in your situation, (2Pet.1:19).
Don’t despise God’s word because of its simplicity (2Kings 5:9-14) or because you don’t know how it will come to pass. Leave the ‘how’ to God. Also, resist the temptation to despise the vessels through which God brings His word to you, (1Tim.5:17). As the word of God enters you, it will give you light (Psa.119:130) and life (John 6:63) and it will produce great fruit in your life. Posture your heart as good soil for it, (Matt.13:23). Study, meditate, believe, speak, pray and act on God’s word, (Prov.4:20-22). Jesus is the word of God. The entire scriptures testify of Him, (John 5:39). As you study God’s word, focus on Jesus and the things that He has done for you, (Col.3:16).
Prayer:
I open up myself more to your word, Dear Lord. Continue to speak to me and fill my heart and my life with your word.
