NEVER DESPISE WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR YOU
Genesis 25:29-32 (NLT), Colossians 1:27 (TPT) …Esau arrived home … exhausted and hungry. Esau said to Jacob, “I’m starved! Give me some of that red stew!” ..”All right,” Jacob replied, “but trade me your rights as the firstborn son.” “Look, I’m dying of starvation!” said Esau. “What good is my birthright to me now?”….*Living within you is the Christ who floods you with the expectation of glory! This mystery of Christ, embedded within us, becomes a heavenly treasure chest of hope filled with the riches of glory for his people, and God wants everyone to know it!
In the same manner Esau despised his birthright in our text above, so are many believers despising the things that Jesus has done for them. One major reason that Esau found himself in this predicament was because he devalued spiritual things and was careless. Though he could not physically envision his birthright, it was certainly a real and valuable thing that would profit him greatly, both in the present and moreso in the future, (Gen.27:1-4). Jacob, on the other hand, appreciated the value of Esau’s birthright. In fact, it was why he coveted it for himself. However, had Esau truly appreciated the value of birthright, he would have actually used it to make Jacob, his younger brother, give him what he wanted.
Just like Esau, in our desperate moments, we also will be tempted to despise the rights that we have obtained by virtue of our new birth in Christ. But because of what Christ has done for us, we have more reasons to overcome and to be triumphant in those situations. This is why Apostle Paul prayed for the eyes of believers to be opened to the hope of our calling, the riches of God’s glorious inheritance in us and the exceeding greatness of God’s resurrection power that raised Christ, all of which remain at work within us, Eph.1:15-20.
We must also learn how to be content in whatever state we are in, (Phil.4:11-13). This will prevent us from being vulnerable and easily manipulated. We must learn how to trust in God’s love and rejoice even in the midst of trials (Rom.5:3-5), knowing that even those situations are working out for our good and that God will abundantly grant us His wisdom, (James 1:2-5).

Thank God for the things He has done for you in Christ. Receive His grace to value and activate them in your life.
