MEMORISE: “And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out. Luke 19:40

READ: 1 Kings 19:14-18

14 And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.

15 And the LORD said unto him, Go, return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest, anoint Hazael to be king over Syria:

16 And Jehu the son of Nimshi shalt thou anoint to be king over Israel: and Elisha the son of Shaphat of Abelmeholah shalt thou anoint to be prophet in thy room.

17 And it shall come to pass, that him that escapeth the sword of Hazael shall Jehu slay: and him that escapeth from the sword of Jehu shall Elisha slay.

18 Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Genesis 25-26; Matthew 9:1-17

MESSAGE:

It is a big mistake for anyone to think that they are irreplaceable. It is a big mistake to think that you are doing God a favour by staying holy in a spoilt world and working for Him. When Elijah thought that there was no other holy person around, God told him that He had reserved seven thousand people who had not bowed to the gods of his days (1 Kings 19:18). There may be a lot of sin around, but believe me honestly, there are still many teenagers that are loving holy and doing the will of God. So if you begin to misbehave, God can easily replace you with one of them.

Don’t think you can commit sin and God will have no other choice but to use you like that since there is no one else. King Saul thought he was very special when God hand picked him to be king, so he started to misbehave. Before long, David took over the throne from him. It is a privilege for God to keep you holy and to use you, don’t lose that privilege.

Key Point:

By living holy and working for God, you are doing yourself (not Him) a huge favour

Hymn 1:

  1. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
    Ye soldiers of the Cross!
    Lift high His royal banner,
    It must not suffer loss.
    From victory unto victory
    His army shall He lead,
    Till every foe is vanquished,
    And Christ is Lord indeed.
  2. Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
    The solemn watchword hear;
    If while ye sleep he suffers,
    Away with shame and fear.
    Where’re yeah meet with evil,
    Within you or without,
    Charge for the God of battles,
    And put the foe to rout.
  3. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    Stand in His strength alone;
    The arm of flesh will fail you,
    Ye dare not trust your own.
    Put on the gospel armour,
    And watching unto prayer;
    Where duty calls, or danger,
    Be never wanting there.
  4. Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
    The strife will not be long;
    This day the noise of battle,
    The next the victor’s song.
    To him that overcometh
    A crown of life shall be;
    He with the King of glory
    Shall reign eternally.
