The highway of the upright avoids evil; those who guard their ways preserve their lives.
Proverbs 16:17, NIV
Recommended Reading: Isaiah 38:8-10
Officers in Oklahoma pulled over a man last year with expired registration tags and got a surprise. He didn’t have a valid driver’s license, the vehicle was stolen, and there was an open bottle of whiskey in the car. That’s not all. He had a gun, a cannister of radioactive uranium, and a live Timber rattlesnake in the vehicle—and a passenger who was a convicted felon.
A lot of people are traveling down the highway of life with dangerous baggage. We enjoy making our own decisions, but our choices should be based on what God desires for us. Isaiah 35:8 says, “A highway will be there; it will be called the Way of Holiness; it will be for those who walk on that Way. The unclean will not journey on it; wicked fools will not go about on it” (NIV).
Are you carrying around too much baggage?
May the Lord get us through life wisely with godly choices. Let’s travel a Highway of Holiness for His glory. The highway of the upright avoids evil and has no room for the serpent in the car.
Those who travel the “Highway of Holiness” do not care as much for the things of this life as their eyes are set on a greater goal—making it into Jesus’ loving arms inside of heaven.
