Open the Word of God

BIBLE MEDITATION:

“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season, Convince, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and teaching” (2 Timothy 4:2 )

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:

Something that really bothers me is to go to church and hear someone stand up and preach without an open Bible. Or maybe he will quote a text and close the Bible and then make a speech.

What we need to do is to read the book and study it. Let me tell you what I think preaching the Word of God is. I think it is taking a passage of Scripture, reading that passage, analyzing it, organizing it, illustrating it, and applying it.

I believe there’s a famine in the land today for that kind of preaching, where people can understand the Bible. That’s the kind of preaching that will ultimately build great Christians.

ACTION POINT:

When you heed the Word of God, it’s going to produce three things: First, sorrow. Then joy. And then obedience. Just obey the Word of God.
