OUR REAL BATTLE AS SOLDIERS OF CHRIST (2)

2Timothy 2:1, 1Peter 5:7-9

…my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus….Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. *Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing…the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren..

In our study yesterday, we saw that the devil lies to us about our challenges and he also tempts us to sin, just to distract us from being strong in faith and advancing God’s kingdom, by preaching the Gospel and manifesting the life and power of Christ. Our real battle as soldiers of Christ is to rescue the souls of men from sin and the devil’s bondage. The reason many are still living in sin and are afraid of the devil is that their eyes have been blinded by the devil, (2Cor.4:3-4). When the light of the Gospel of Christ shines on them, their eyes are opened, they become free from the devil’s power, they receive the forgiveness of their sins and their inheritance in God, (Acts 26:18).

To continue preaching the Gospel and setting men free from the devil’s bondage, we must remain strong in faith. We must endure hardness (trials and tribulations) as good soldiers of Christ. We must exercise the victory Christ has given us over sin; for through Christ, we are dead to sin and we now have the new righteous nature of Christ. In our trying times, we must stand on the victory Christ has already won for us and not allow the devil to devour our faith with his lies and tricks. God knows you can bear/overcome that temptation and trial by His power in you, (1Cor.10:13). Stay in God’s love and receive His wisdom to overcome. Keep fulfilling God’s purpose for your life.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I thank you for the strength and wisdom of Christ to endure trials, overcome sin and keep fulfilling purpose.
