Text: Hebrews 13:16-25
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
17 Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.
18 Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in all things willing to live honestly.
19 But I beseech you the rather to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.
20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
21 Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
22 And I beseech you, brethren, suffer the word of exhortation: for I have written a letter unto you in few words.
23 Know ye that our brother Timothy is set at liberty; with whom, if he come shortly, I will see you.
24 Salute all them that have the rule over you, and all the saints. They of Italy salute you.
25 Grace be with you all. Amen. (Written to the Hebrews from Italy, by Timothy.)
Key Verse: “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” – (Hebrews 13:16).
MESSAGE:
The radiant beauty of true Christianity is that it glows even when surrounded by challenges. Believers are like the life changing spectacle that confronted Moses during his self-exile in the land of Midian. Moses saw a burning bush that remained indestructible while the fire raged. Later, it was to be seen as the imagery to depict how, despite the suffering of the children of Israel in Egypt, they were multiplying rather than decreasing.

The secret is in obeying God and His servants during turbulent moments. We learn this in this extract from the epistle to the Hebrews. The Hebrew believers were at the receiving end of intense persecution as a result of their faith in Jesus Christ after renouncing Judaism. Their sympathy for persecuted Christians also earned them the wrath of the authorities.
Because of these, the Hebrew converts sought to go back to their old ways. Why should they continue in a path they thought was consuming them? Were they not promised a better deal in Christ? Where was the improvement in their lives?
The writer of the letter to the Hebrews told them that all they needed to do to overcome the evil against them was to bear the fruit of repentance according to the grace of God, namely doing good, helping the needy saints and contributing to the work of God. When believers link up with each other in prayer and in giving along with numerous other acts of scriptural charity, we receive divine radiance beyond what worldly or satanic fire can subdue.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Please God to release grace for victory over evil, if you have Jesus!
