Bible Reading: Mathew 5:3

Bible Reading In One Year: 2 Chronicles 34-36; John 19:1-42
MESSAGE:
The beatitudes present powerful foundational truths every heaven-bound believer must not toy with. To be poor suggests a lack or deficiency in something. For instance, the one who is impoverished in health is sick. The financially poor is one who needs money to make ends meet and would most likely be found in a prosperity preaching church.
A man who is poor in spirit will be in pursuit of spiritual things. In our Bible reading for today, Jesus blessed those who are seeking spiritual things. It is what you seek you are likely to find. To seek means to find in every way possible.
How then do you seek spiritual things? God is a Spirit; seeking spiritual things means seeking God. Seeking the things of God is the most important decision you could ever make.
The Bible says seek ye first the kingdom of God and all other things will follow. A person rich in the spirit will be rich in other areas of life. Be hungry for God.
Wake up with a desire to learn more about God every single day. Rather than concentrating on mundane things like social media or popularity in school, why don’t you focus on knowing more about God?
Action Point:
Ask God to create a hunger in you for spiritual things.
Hymn: My Faith Looks Up To Thee
- My faith looks up to Thee,
Thou Lamb of Calvary,
Saviour divine!
Now hear me while I pray,
Take all my guilt away;
O let me from this day
Be wholly Thine. - May Thy rich grace impart
Strength to my fainting heart,
My zeal inspire;
As Thou hast died for me,
O may my love to Thee
Pure, warm, and changeless be,
A living fire. - While life’s dark maze | tread,
And griefs around me spread,
Be Thou my guide;
Bid darkness turn to day,
Wipe sorrow’s tears away,
Nor let me ever stray
From Thee aside. - When ends life’s transient dream,
When death’s cold, sullen stream
Shall o’er me roll,
Blest Saviour, then in love,
Fear and distrust remove;
O bear me safe above,
A ransomed soul.
