Memorise: “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” – Matthew 5:48
Read: Isaiah 28:10
10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:
Bible In One Year: Isaiah 27-28, Ephesians 5
MESSAGE:
Perfection at anything cannot be achieved overnight. There is room for consistent practice. When you do something consistently, you will become perfect at it.
What will you like to be good at? Is it playing football, singing, acting, drawing, public speaking? Whatever it is, if you practice it consistently, you can become the best at it. Practicing a thing consistently can be tough and tiring, but the results are worth the effort. When I was in University, I was part of a football team. Whenever we trained, our coach will make us play for up to two hours. We did all the drills extensively. It was very difficult and tough, but he drove us hard. One day, we played against another team and because it was a tie, the game extended I to extra time. The players from very tired during the extra time, but as for our team, we remained strong and agile. Of course, we won the match. We won because we had spent more time in practice than the other team.
Key Point:
With constant practice, you can perform far better than people who are more talented than you are and don’t practice.
Hymn 2:
1 When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Chorus:
Trust and obey, for theres no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
3 Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
4 But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
5 Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
