PRAY AND SEIZE THE MOMENT

Esther 4:15-16 (LB), Ecclesiastes 11:4 (GNB)

Then Esther sent this message to Mordecai: “Go and gather together all the Jews of Shushan and fast for me; do not eat or drink for three days, night or day; and I and my maids will do the same; and then, though it is strictly forbidden, I will go in to see the king; and if I perish, I perish.” *If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never plant anything and never harvest anything.

What is that thing God has been laying in your heart to do that you have been delaying to do for one reason or the other? One reason why many people delay or hesitate in doing certain things they know they are supposed to do, is because of the impending threat or possible discomfort that doing that thing may pose for the flesh. This and many other kind of fears have kept many people from venturing out and taking certain steps that would please God and bring about increase in their lives and the lives of others.

Stop waiting for perfect conditions. Understand the time and season, know what you are supposed to do and do it. Pray for God’s favour and strength, get counsel and spiritual support where necessary and launch forward. Stop giving excuses. Yield to the Spirit of God and take that step, even though the flesh is weak and unwilling.

Just like Jesus felt in the Garden of Gethsemane, you may feel under so much pressure to desire some other way out, but sometimes, there is no other way out but to go through it. All you have to do is to pray and seize the moment. You have to be daring to do great things. You have to be daring to start and to continue doing what you ought to do. Like Esther, you can get others to join you in prayer but you have to step out in faith.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I receive your strength to rise up and do what I know I have to do right now. Help me to seize this moment.
