Pray for the Flow and the Glory of the Gospel
2 Thessalonians 3:1 (KJV, TPT, LB)
Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: *Finally, dear brothers and sisters, pray for us that the Lord’s message will continue to spread rapidly and its glory be recognized everywhere, just as it was with you. *Finally, dear brothers, as I come to the end of this letter, I ask you to pray for us. Pray first that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and triumph wherever it goes, winning converts everywhere as it did when it came to you.
A major aspect of our prayers should be focused on spreading the gospel of Christ. The salvation of the souls of men is God’s heartbeat. There is always great joy in Heaven each time a sinner gets saved (Luke 15:7). Thr word of God is clear that God wants all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1Tim.2:4). As such, we need to desire and pray for the rapid spread of the gospel of Christ like never before. The knowledge of the glory of God needs to fill the earth as the waters cover the sea (Hab.2:14). As darkness is filling the earth and gross darkness continues to overshadow people (Isa.60:1-2), the light of the knowledge of the glory of Christ should be filling the hearts of men more than ever before (2Cor.4:6).
We need to pray for wisdom and victory over every hindrance and obstacle to the spread of the gospel of Christ. We need to pray for God to grant utterance and boldness to all believers for the preaching of the gospel (Eph.6:19). When the early believers were threatened to stop preaching the gospel, they gathered together and prayed for boldness and for God to stretch forth His hands and manifest signs and wonders (Acts 4:29-31). Despite all the persecution and challenges they had, the gospel continued to spread and more and more people got saved. We need to pray that God will open doors for the true gospel of Christ to grow and spread into places it has not been (Col.4:3). We need to pray that God will open the eyes of people to understand the gospel and be turned from darkness to light and from the power of Satan unto God. We should ask God in prayer for people to receive the forgiveness of their sins and their inheritance as His children (Acts 26:18). We need to also pray for those that get saved to be established in the faith and for the word of God to spread to others (Acts 16:5).
Prayer Focus:
Pray for the mighty spread of the gospel through you and other believers. Pray for the glory of God to accompany the preaching of the gospel.
