PRAY FOR THE NATIONS

Haggai 2:6-7, Zechariah 2:10-11 (GNB)

..thus saith the LORD…I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, …*The LORD said, “Sing for joy,…Jerusalem! I am coming to live among you!” At that time many nations will come to the LORD and become his people. He will live among you, and you will know that he has sent me to you.

As God’s children, we are partners together with God for ensuring that His kingdom comes and His will is done on earth as it is in Heaven. One way we partner with God for this is by praying (Matt.6:9-10). God wants us to pray for various nations and He wants us to pray and declare His desire for them. God’s power will prevail as we pray (James 5:16-18). Nations here include both geographically located nations and people as well as various spheres of life and society.

God wants us to ask Him for nations (Psa.2:8). He wants to put the burden for various nations on our hearts and He wants us to pray and desire the spread of the Gospel, the salvation of souls and the advancement of His will and purpose in various nations. He wants us to pray for the preservation of lives and the future of nations.

Don’t act like it does not affect you and does not concern you. If it concerns God, then it should concern you. As you read or hear about various anomalies and atrocities going on in various nations of the world and spheres of life and society, do not just lament or complain about them–pray to God about them. Pray to God for the people and leadership of those nations and ask God for His intervention and transformation in the affairs of that nation. Pray in the Spirit too.

Action Point:
Pray in the Spirit for various nations and spheres of society. Ask God for His salvation, intervention and transformation.
