PRAYER AND FULFILLING GOD’S WILL

Luke 10:2-3 (KJV & GNB)

…The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest. Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. *…”There is a large harvest, but few workers to gather it in. Pray to the owner of the harvest that he will send out workers to gather in his harvest. Go! I am sending you like lambs among wolves.

The things we pray about the most are a reflection of the things we desire or value the most. As believers, our prayers must not only reflect how our needs can be met. We must also pray a lot about how God’s needs can be met and God’s purpose can be fulfilled on the earth.

Prayer is a major foundation for fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. Jesus did not tell the disciples how great the harvest was and then send them into the harvest. He told them to pray, then go. As we pray unto God, there is a divine preparation, empowerment, stirring up of God’s life and power, guidance and alignment to God’s will that takes place in our lives. This is why Jesus prayed a lot when He was on the earth. In prayer, God’s glory was stirred up in His life (Luke 9:28-29); so much so that He could see what
God was doing and follow suit (John 5:19).

Prayer is vital for every single area of our lives. The Bible says, “Roll your works upon the Lord [commit
and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.” (Prov.16:3, AMPC) As you pray, open up yourself to God and let Him lead you. He can lead you to pray for others (Luke 22:31-32) and He can lead you to carry out an assignment or purpose for Him (Acts 13:1-2).

Prayer Focus:
Ask God for the salvation of souls and for His will to be done in the lives of those around you. Pray as you are led by the Spirit.
