Personal disagreements over financial decision is one of the root cause of divorce for married couples. Handling finances is a very sensitive area for couples in marriage. Unfortunately, even when couples have resources and are financially stable, they still end up fighting over money. It is refusing to work together as a team that places families under tension. Trust is the keyword in family finance. Husband and wife must be honest about money, which is essential for trust in marriage.Note that accountability helps boost trust. Where no one wants to be accountable to the other, there will be no progress financially.

HOW TO MANAGE YOUR FINANCE IN MARRIAGE?

Set Financial Priorities Together

Communication is key to any healthy relationship, and discussing financial decisions is no exception. Communicating about finances is challenging because the priorities of personal finance (husband/wife) are as unique as the individuals themselves. Any saving strategies must consider the needs and aspirations of both partners in order to be successful. Therefore, it is important that both partners know where a couple stands financially to establish common financial goals.

Budget Your Spending

Establishing and following a budget is the most reliable way to eliminate debt and plan for a future together. It is nearly impossible for couples to set financial goals or build financial strategies without a monthly or quarterly budget. At an agreed date, both partners can come together to plan the family budget, which includes mapping out how much to spend on food, children, on each other, pay for bills in the home, etc. Without some form of individualised spending, it is difficult to face the quantitative reality of how personal spending choices affect collective budgeting each month. So it is only through honest conversation and budget analysis that couples can track and change their financial behaviour, and this help to reduce the stress, confusion and frustration of managing money together.

However, to enjoy a hitch-free marriage, especially in the area of finance, you need to be rooted in God. If you are not born again, you need to accept Jesus Christ as you Lord and Saviour. If you are not born again, please say this prayer of faith: Lord Jesus Christ, I come to You today. I am a sinner, and I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins and cleanse me with Your Precious Blood. Deliver me from sin and satan to serve the Living God. From today, Lord Jesus, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I am Born Again.
