Honest weights and scales are the Lord’s; all the weights in the bag are His work

The experts and influencers and brightest minds of our day can gather up all their predictions and projections, but their opinions will never outweigh God’s promises.

In biblical times, the weights for the scales were held in a bag, because once they were true, they needed to be protected. If a shekel was chipped, it no longer weighed an accurate amount and would lead to dishonest outcomes. The person who owned the scales kept the honest weights in the bag to be certain nothing changed.

God holds all the weights in His bag. He watches over the scales of truth and righteousness. He ensures that the weights do not change. His scales are accurate.

He measures everything justly – large or small. He weighs the movement of galaxies, the affairs of nations, and the financial transactions of corporations. He also weighs our motives, thoughts, deeds, and words. What no one else can see or comprehend, He places on the scales and measures.

Worldly scales will tilt in the favor of some and not in the favor of others. Earthly judges sometimes do not rule equitably. But there has never been a time when God was unjust. He holds the weights in His bag. His work is perfect, and all of His ways are just (Deuteronomy 32:4).
