The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe

When troubles come, when doubts assail, to whom do you turn? Where is the first place you run?

Instead of our last resort, the Lord should always be our first resource. In unstable times – like those we currently face – His name is a strong tower. When we feel threatened, frightened, abandoned or alone, He offers His defense.

He promises to pull us close under the shadow of His wings and to cover us with His feathers (Psalm 91:4). What a beautiful picture of His fierce protection and faithful love. He alone is our refuge!

He encourages us to bring all of our burdens to Him. With His own strength, He will sustain and establish us so that we will be immovable and unshakeable (Psalm 55:22). We need not fear the uncertainty of the future.

Run to the Lord! Beat a direct path, a straight line, to His door. Do not stop to read a self-help book or hash it out with a couple of friends. Do not wait until the situation is so dire that sheer desperation drives you to Him.

At the first sign of trouble, sprint for safety. The door is open, and His arms are wide. When you rush to Him, He will lift you up and hold you securely. He will protect and carry you through every calamity.

Today’s Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. May you dwell in the secret place of the Almighty to find the strength and confidence to fulfill His purposes.
