I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.
In the beginning, God placed Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, a place of perfection and delight. They could eat the fruit from every tree in the garden – except one.
They chose their feelings over the facts God established, and it created a problem for all of us for all time. We still struggle between our feelings and facts, right and wrong, and selfishness and sacrifice.
We even experience an elemental power struggle between male and female. Modern activism has pushed the “anything you can do, I can do better” mentality to the extreme. This social movement can trace its roots all the way back to the Garden where God “created them male and female” (Genesis 5:2).
God designed us with significant differences that complement and complete one another. However, when sin and selfishness entered the relationship, Satan contorted these differences to become a source of contention and competition.
No room exists in our marriages for this battle between the sexes. Lay down your weapons to prefer one another in love, to build up our relationships and families. Contention and competition run counter to all that Christ represents. He created us wonderfully and marvelously – each of us one beautiful, necessary piece of a much larger mosaic. Let us celebrate the differences!
Blessing:
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Commit to being a helper and a healer – the person who makes the move to restore unity and love. He is making you His masterpiece!
