Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is beautifulAgain, the psalmist encourages us to approach the Lord with praise and thanksgiving. Throughout this psalm, he lets us know that it is good, pleasant, and beautiful to sing to God!

Other translations tell us that – not only is it good, pleasant, and beautiful – it is appropriate and fitting that we sing praises to Him. When we consider His goodness and glory, it is exactly right that we would burst forth into grateful song.

He created, counted, and called each star by name. He causes the grass to grow and feeds all the creatures of the earth. He keeps peace at the borders of our nation. He launches His promises to earth, and they accomplish His will here.

Closer to home, He puts good food on our tables. He pulls together the outcasts, heals their broken hearts, and bandages their wounds. He makes our cities secure and blesses our children.

In this season, consider the handiwork of the Lord. Take note of all His blessings to you. He delights in giving good gifts to His children.

Allow the gratitude in your heart to spill from your lips in joyful worship. Sing a hymn of thanksgiving to God! The Lord strains to hear your upraised voice; your praises are music to His ears.Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Sing to the Lord for His excellent greatness. May His praise continually be in your mouth! Sing a new song to your great God!
