For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation

What a beautiful picture the psalmist paints for us in today’s verse! The Lord has blessed and beautified us with salvation. He delights in us.

When there was no good thing in us – nothing worthy of His attention – He took notice of our desperate state. While we were still sinners, He died for us. He stripped away our own filthy rags and clothed us in His holy robes of righteousness.

This kind of love merits a new song – not just melodies and harmonies droned out mindlessly, but a joyful river of Spirit-song flowing from a heart of inexplicable gratitude. Make those praises privately – and publicly – surrounded by other saints!

This unspeakable gift of salvation causes us to rejoice in our Maker and to be joyful before our King. Such love demands our deepest response of thanksgiving – praising Him with dancing, song, and playing of musical instruments.

And because our hearts overflow with gratitude, the daylight hours will not be able to contain our praise. Even lying in our beds, we will keep up a constant flow of praise for the goodness of our God.

Praise Him for the gift of His salvation. He has given us beauty for ashes and joy for mourning. Bask in His delight. Let all that is within you bless His holy name!
Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Thank the Redeemer that He has clothed you in robes of righteousness. Shout joyfully to the Rock of your salvation!
