Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord

Jacob was a fighter from conception. Even in the womb, he and his twin brother struggled against one another.

Esau was born first, but Jacob followed closely behind with his hand grasped tightly onto Esau’s heel. His mother named him Jacob which sounds much like the Hebrew word for “heel” but also for “deceiver.”

All his life, Jacob wanted to be first. He wanted the double portion blessing reserved for the first-born son. He fought for it in the womb and on the day of his birth. He slyly tricked Esau out of his birthright and even deceived his own father to grasp the blessing that rightfully belonged to Esau. Later, when an angel wrestled through the night with him, Jacob would not let go until God blessed him.

Jacob’s desire for the blessing was a noble one, but he was willing to scheme and steal to achieve his ends. He took matters into his own hands and eventually found himself fighting for his life.

When tempted to manipulate or deceive to obtain the blessings of God, we must wait on Him to bring about the promises He has given. When we allow God to mold us, we are prepared to carry the responsibility of the blessing. We must wait for the Lord, practicing patience as He works His will in us.

Today’s Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. This struggle will become your strength. God is working all things for your good. To Him be the glory!
