The Lord is their strength, and He is the saving refuge of His anointed

The anointing of God distinguishes us from the world, activates His gifts in our lives, and empowers us to do His work. However, there are some things that the anointing is NOT.

The anointing is NOT a one-time event, a box that we check off on a spiritual inventory. Paul encourages us to be continually filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), to live in relationship with a God Who pours out His sufficiency like ever-flowing streams of water.

The anointing is NOT a get-out-of-jail-free card, a free pass from life’s issues. Jesus was anointed, and He was plagued and persecuted, debated and defamed, crucified and killed. The anointing is the power that pulls us through the trouble, the confidence that we never walk alone as children of the Most High.

The anointing is NOT optional. Anything that God uses for His purposes must be anointed. When Moses constructed the Tabernacle, he anointed all of it – the posts, hinges, curtain rods, bowls, every article of clothing, every person who entered, everything. If we desire the fullness of a relationship with God, we cannot forfeit the privilege of the anointing.

The ongoing anointing of God saturates our lives with His goodness and allows us to access His presence, experience His power, and fulfill His purposes.

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Choose to live in the ongoing flow of the Lord’s anointing. May you walk in His presence, experience His wonder-working power, and fulfill His purposes. He gives strength to His anointed!
