Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord…

Today, in America, we celebrate the many freedoms of this great nation of ours! Few nations on the globe enjoy the liberties we do.

Take a moment to reflect on where we have come from and to where we are progressing. As we picnic with our families, participate in Fourth of July parades, and stare up at a night sky spangled with explosions of light, let us remember those who fought to establish and maintain our liberty.

The first guarantee in the Bill of Rights is the freedom of religion. Across this land, we have the right to assemble in churches, pray freely, worship extravagantly, and boldly teach the Gospel of Christ. We can publish books, broadcast television shows, and stream services on the internet to lift up the name of Jesus – even in countries that are denied those rights.

We have the right to an education, to speak opinions freely, and to vote for the people and policies that govern our nation. We can join a political party, march on Washington, or lobby our representatives.

With these freedoms come responsibility. How are we stewarding these liberties for the cause of Christ? Are we praying? Exercising our right to vote? Proclaiming God’s truth? May we always stand “one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

Blessing:

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious unto you and give you His peace. Humble yourself before God to pray, repent, and seek His face. May He hear from heaven and heal our land. May He forever be Lord of America.
