Put a Stop to It

Today’s Scripture

Joshua 7:13, NCVThe LORD, the God of Israel, says some of you are keeping things he commanded you to destroy. You will never defeat your enemies until you throw away those things.

Today’s Word

The Israelites had been defeated by the small city of Ai because one of their men had hidden idolatrous plunder that should have been destroyed. What should have been an easy defeat of Ai turned into a disastrous defeat that made the Israelites vulnerable to attack from other surrounding nations. Joshua had to move quickly to remove the idols that were displeasing to God.

Are there some things you need to remove from your life? Here’s a key: What you don’t put a stop to will eventually stop you. If you don’t put a stop to a bad attitude, it will stop you. If you don’t put a stop to that compromise or that addiction, it will hold you back. If you don’t put a stop to that anger, that self-pity, or that regret, it’s going to keep you from your destiny. When you humble yourself and ask God for His help, then take bold steps to remove what’s holding you back, God will make things happen that you could never make happen.

Prayer for Today

Father, thank You that You are a holy God who desires to free me from anything that is holding me back from victory and my destiny. Search my heart and show me whatever needs to be removed. I humble myself and ask Your help to take the steps I need to take to get rid of it. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
