PUT ON THE ARMOUR OF LOVE

1THESSALONIANS 5:6-8 (NIV), ROMANS 12:20-21

So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. *Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him;….Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. 

In these last days, God wants us to be deliberate about walking in love. “The end of all things is near. You must be self-controlled and alert, to be able to pray. Above everything, love one another earnestly, because love covers over many sins,” (1Pet. 4:7, GNB).

Many offenses are going to come our way to distract us. We have to be sober and walk in the light. To be sober is to be in your right mind or to be self-controlled. No matter what happens, don’t forget you are a child of the light. Walking in love is living in the light and walking in hatred is walking in darkness, (1 John 2:9-11, GNB). 

Our first text above says, “Let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate.” God wants us to guard our hearts with faith and love. This faith and love comes from the revelation of all God has done for us in Christ. If we are going to continue walking in love despite what people do to us, then we must let what God has done for us in Christ remain fresh and abundant in our consciousness at all times. Our focus must be more on God’s love than on what people do to us. We cannot give what we don’t have. Jesus said we should love our enemies, bless them that curse us, do good to them that hate us and pray for those who despitefully use and persecute us, (Matt.5:44).

PRAYER:
Father, I thank you for giving me your nature of love. Please help me to continue walking in love no matter how people treat me.
