Put on the Mind of Christ
Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
Romans 13:14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfil its lusts.
For us to live the life of Christ an fulfill the mission that God has given us to reconcile all men and all things unto Him, we must have the mind of Christ. We must have the same attitude and approach to life that Jesus has. We must always remember that we are in this world but we are not of this world. We are here on a divine assignment and we are one with Christ. We are no longer living for ourselves. We are living for the one who died for us and rose again, 2 Cor. 5:15. We must be willing to give up everything just to be like Jesus and fulfil the assignment He has given us to do. To do this, we do not have to die physically on the Cross as Jesus did, but we must carry the message of the Cross and allow it to influence our lives (2 Cor. 4:10) and motivate us to share the Good News of Christ to others. We must make our greatest desire to fulfil the mission that God has given us to reconcile all men and all things unto Him.
We put on the new man (Christ) by renewing our minds with the revelation of Christ and this makes us manifest true righteousness and holiness, Eph. 4:23-24. The Bible says, “But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond, nor free: but Christ is all, and in all,” Col. 3:8-11. It is our consciousness of the revelation of the Cross of Christ that enables us to live a sacrificial and crucified life just like Jesus. This is why Apostle Paul said, “All I want is to know Christ and to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings and become like him in his death,” Phil. 3:10 (GNB).
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I desire to please you and do your will just as Jesus did. Fill men with the mind of Christ as I meditate on His revelation.
