PUT ON YOUR NEW CLOTHES

Colossians 3:10-12 (MSG)

Now you’re dressed in a new wardrobe. Every item of your new way of life is custom-made by the Creator, with his label on it. All the old fashions are now obsolete. …From now on everyone is defined by Christ, everyone is included in Christ. So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline.

Now that you are in Christ, God has changed your wardrobe. You now have a new set of outfits that befit the new life you now have in Christ. These outfits are the characters and attitudes of Christ. They are the attributes of your new life in Christ also known as the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control, (Gal. 5:22-23, LB).

Don’t wear the outfits (characters and attitudes) of your old nature anymore. They are now obsolete. They no more befit you. Put them off! Put on your new clothes!

Your life is now defined by Christ and you are designed to function like Christ. Christ is now your all in all and He must reflect in everything you think, say and do. Just as it is in the physical where you dress up in secret and come out with your clothes on, in the spirit you also dress up in secret and come out with your clothes on. In the physical, you use your hands to put on your clothes, but in the spirit, you use your mouth to put them on. You confess and declare to yourself who you are in Christ and what Christ has done for you. The more you wear Christ in your mind in secret, the more He reflects in your thoughts, words and actions in the open.

Faith Declaration:
I am one with Christ. Christ is my life. I am holy. I am loving. I am joyful. I am patient. I am self-controlled
