Receiving the Kingdom

Mark 10:15(NLT), Hebrews 12:22-24,28(NKJV)

I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem…to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God….to Jesus…. and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken , let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

God’s kingdom fills and takes over our lives as we receive the kingdom. By our faith in Jesus, we are now citizens of God’s kingdom, though we are currently on earth. Some members of our family are in heaven (Ephesians 3:15). We will later return to our home base(Heaven) but before this time, we have a job to do on earth, i.e., to spread the life and ways of our kingdom so that others can also become citizens and experience the life and ways of our kingdom. Before we can do this , we must first of all be rooted and grounded in the life and ways of our kingdom. We must first receive the kingdom.

When Jesus said that whoever does not receive the kingdom like a little child will not enter it, He was referring to the reality that whoever does not yield Himself to learn and receive (like a little child) the provisions that He has made available for us will not experience the kingdom of God in their lives. God cannot rule and reign in our lives and we cannot function in the realm that God operates until we receive what Christ has done for us. Jesus wants us to fully enter into the experience of God’s kingdom.

The primary way we receive the kingdom is by receiving the gospel of Christ: by receiving the things that God says we are, we have and we can do in Christ, by Christ, through Christ and with Christ. For example, as we receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness, we reign in life through Christ (Romans 5:17). We can only work out what we know that God has already worked into us through Christ. We cannot give what we do not have. As we know and receive what God has freely given us in Christ, we will be empowered to be all that God wants us to be.

Prayer:
My heart is open to You, dear Father. Please fill me with the revelation of all you have provided for me in Christ . I receive the fullness of Your Kingdom.
