REFLECT CHRIST IN YOUR WORD AND CHARACTER

1Timothy 4:12 (GNB), Prov. 17:27 (KJV & GNB), Phil.2:14-15 (GNB) Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but be an example for the believers in your speech, your conduct, … *Those who are sure of themselves do not talk all the time. People who stay calm have real insight. *Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may be innocent and pure as God’s perfect children, who live in a world of corrupt and sinful people. You must shine among them like stars lighting up the sky,

As God’s model to the world, you are empowered to be an excellent example of Christ in your words and character wherever you are. You have the tongue of the learned, (Isa.50:4). Your words are guided and inspired by the Spirit of God and you know how to speak the right words to people. You also have the ability to behave decently. Ephesians 4:29-31 says, “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.”

Talk like Jesus and behave like Him. Some soldiers were sent to arrest Jesus and they went back to the Pharisees that sent them and they said, “Nobody has ever talked the way this man does!” (John 7:46, GNB). Just like Jesus, you speak with boldness and authority, (Mark 1:22). You are an ambassador of Christ so represent Him well by the way you talk and behave, (2Cor.5:20).

Learn to control your words and your temper. “…Be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry,” (James 1:19, GNB). For your words to be excellent, your thoughts need to be excellent. Philippians 4:8 admonishes us to think thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, of virtue and of praise. In Luke 6:45, Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Guard your heart diligently (Prov.4:23) and fill it with the revelation of Christ and love of God.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, please help me to be an excellent example of Christ in my words and in my character. Help me to control my temper.
